Model gearbox in an XC - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I am thinking about putting a later model gearbox into my XC. What is the best and cheapest way to go about getting a 4 speed auto? I have the original 3 speed at the mo but I am wanting that extra gear.
Also I am wanting to keep that shifter original so will the top of the shifter fit onto this new gearbox?

An AOD box. A few of the guys on http://www.351cleveland.net have done it.
