Modifications for BTR LE97?

If I plan to do some big mods down the track, I'd need to do soemthing about the stock auto. Mine is the BTR LE97 V8 at the moment.

One of my mates recently got his Turbo 700 in his VP rebuilt with corvette servos, double clutch springs and Kevlar bands with a 2800rpm stall to name a few.

I was wondering what components were available for the BTR box to stregthen it, what RPM stall ranges are available, and if you can get lock up converters with them.

I guess I could and probably will go and see a Transmission place as they will be able to tell me exactly what's available but I thought I'd run it pased you guys and get you expereinces on the products you've tried aswell.

Re: Modifications for BTR LE97?

Get fcuked I'm never toching a T5. This car is staying auto so I don't need any advice on an alternative transmission, just how to strengthen and modify this one.

How bout turning the S5 solinoid adjustment screw 1/12th of a turn during your next service! Sharpen up your shifts. (loose the shift kit).
Got a Tranny Cooler?

Re: Modifications for BTR LE97?

Isn't that just going to do what the shift kit does anyway? All I really want to know is what performance parts are available, mainly for durability purposes. I can't see it lasting forever with huge amounts of torque going through it.

Re: Modifications for BTR LE97?

I took my shift kit after fitting an AU S5 and turning it up one o'clock.
The shifts are more consistant, like 1-2 isnt as harsh and 2-3 is equaly as punchy.
I found with my ssk that 1-2 was harsh and 2-3 was more ordinary.
Probably better to adjust the S5 rather than doing it the SSK way anyway.
Also a tranny cooler will help longevity a great deal.
All other mods that I know of cost big bucks, and I would even consider a manual if big bucks were involved.
How much torque you talking?

Re: Modifications for BTR LE97?

Dunno, just let's say for example I did a 347 stroker kit, with all your usual stuff, TFS heads/cam/intake. Would be making about 350kw/600nm torque I'd be guessing.

Re: Modifications for BTR LE97?

It might be better to ditch the BTR and go for an AOD from the states - pretty sure that's what laminge plans to do as they are a very strong box, with lots of aftermarket stuff for them. That's option one. Option 2 is to PM HOTDBZ as he has had his auto rebuilt to cope with the extra power from his minor turbo upgrade - he may be able to put you in touch with the mob that did his. Maybe I should have put those options the other way around - i would definitely get onto Mal ASAP (before he chromes his whole car, lol).

Sounds similar to what im planning, mmmm 600+Nm

As JC-XR8 said HOTDBZ has an upgraded auto in his.... also the likes of APS and NIZPRO might be worth a go too as ive heard that they have upgraded the XR6T Auto which is fairly similar to yours as far as i know.
