About to fit a V-Gate to my Toploader in my XE and wondering if (maybe should be in Interior) anyone has fitted this combo before.

I have a XE Ghia centre console fitted with the elec window control and i'm not real keen on hacking it up to fit the shifter.

Is it neccessary to mod the console to fit the V-Gate? If so, by much?

You'll lose more than the console, it needs a huge hole in the floor!

Have you bought one yet? If not, i'd re-think it. I had mine in for all of one day. They are terrible for anything but the drags.

Yeah i got it for bugger all and its brand new.

How much more of a hole do you need other than to fit the toploader into a XE anyway?

I am in the process of finishing my XE with a toploader, it had a single rail. The box fits straight in, you'll need the toploader B/H. I'm running an Indy Hurst shifter. You have to cut a little out of the top for the Hurst to fit, not a lot and fairly easy to do.

My current problem is adjusting the linkages to get all gears working, I can't get 1st and 2nd running. I should have put the whole lot into the car working instead of the box and working on the linkages later, this is really p...me off.

Yeah, I may not have made it clear to begin with, I already have a toploader in my XE, it has a custom shifter combo of stock and hurst parts which is to be honest, absoulutely brilliant!

ppl always say to me "****in toploaders, they can't shift for shit". Well i've driven some nice shifting cars, and my toploader is as good, if not better.

I realise there has to be mods to the floorpan, the toploader has been in there for around 6 years. What I would like to know though, is if i have to mod the floor anymore to fit the v-gate?

Also if anyone has fitted a v-gate, what mods did they do to the centre console? I considered using a auto console, but i think the shift line will be to far to the left. I just didn't wana go hacking up my good console to try it. may have to bolt in a shitty console to try.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks for your input anyway. :)
