Yesterday i took the wife and two wipper snappers for a long drive down the coast, this was the first time ive had the thing on the open road since taking delivery because of work commitments and found a strange noise(like a dronning noise) coming from the gearbox only when in fifth gear.The noise only appears when lightly cruising at speeds between 95-120 km/h and you lightly touch the throttle, if you push a little further it goes if you back of it goes. at first it sounded like the diff bearings where stuffed as this is common when testings diff this way BUT it only happens in fifth gear. I heard it mainly because i didnt have the stereo loud because of the kids sleeping. i had it at the dealer today and the service manager is going to look further into it.
I drove the demo GT and it has the same problem has anyone else noticed this dronning noice i have in their GT/GT-P?

no, the only thing I have found is the occaisional clunk going from 2nd back to 1st if i do it too quickly.

Yep, Iv'e noticed it on my GT as well.

By the way, have any of you guys noticed yet a knocking/slaping noise from the engine only at idle and engine is up to operating temp.???

My Tremec vibrates badly through the shifter and the clutch pedal all the time. It almost feels like the clutch pressure plate is out of balance. It's bad enough that my feet go to sleep if I keep my foot on the clutch pedal between shifts.

I get the impression that the Tremecs have variable characteristicsas talking to many owners each car seems to have its own little anomolies.

Mine sometimes rattles in 3rd gear under acceleration, and sometimes crunches a little into first on a down change.

my xr8 gearbox has a lot of issues as well,very rough 1st to 2nd shift, it also vibrates in 3rd and vibrates when shifting from 3rd to 4th,and the diff clunks also on and off the throttle at low speed but......not for long!!!

i have noticed this in my xr8 ute..

its a rattling sound, but its in all gears and gets worse when under load..

it pisses me off bad!
also, i knock in the front left over speed humps and the same in the rear, ive checked to spare tyre and it fits nice and snug..
