hi i have a kq sr2 laser i have had it for 7 months atm it has only done 80,000ks... my ford machanic has now told me i need a new transmission.
i was wondering if this is has happened to any other lasers or whether anyone has heard of it... not happy that i may need to pay another $3000 when i spent enough buying a newish car... thanks would be greatful

not quite enough info....but on what you have said...it appears you were aware of no problem with the tranny???

if you weren't aware of a problem, why would the mech raise it.

80k...i reckon he intends to rip you!!!!

Get a second oppinion.....goto a tranny specialist. DO NOT tell them you have been told you need a new one....actuallly on second thought....goto a regular independant mechanic for a check over....tell him you want a thorough check....without pin pointing a specific item....see what he comes up with

80 k from a tranny....these days that warranty anyway!!

no problem wats so ever... but they are actually saying i trash it but if u knew my driving... u would actually say i was a granny. i will be telling em to leave it alone. after they stop doing the tranmission test. but the thing is u can't even drive it... so the machanic would know straight away to work on the tranmission...the transmission just went straight away..

Well if you cant even drive it you know that its got a major problem.
Major failure of a late model auto is not uncommon.The manufacturer puts more money into research & development on how far a part will travel than any other resource,so it doesnt come back under warranty & cost them major money.Thats why your stuck with the problem,otherwise you would be taking it back to the dealer to have it repaied at no cost to you.
NO car manufacturer makes a car to last forever.Otherwise it would cost you a princely some to purchase new-it wouldnt brake down& the dealer wouldnt make any money on parts.Why do you think there are so many new shit boxes to choose from & arent they so CHEAP to buy.GET IT
