Need big help fast: T5 conversion - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Ok here is the deal

After buying this new car today, i decided to throw my T5 into the AU Falcon and keep it on the road.

So now here comes teh drama part:
The T5 is out of an EA, EA bellhousing bolts to AU engine, BUT it is way too short, the gearshifter would come through where my CD playe is.

So now as solution i am thinking is to get a bigger bellhousing to make up for the extra inch i need.

The problems i come up with that are:
wher the hack can i get a bigger bellhouding from, or would teh T5 i got bolt up to an AU bellhousing?
what about the input shaft? wouldnt it be too short for a longer bellhousing?

are there any kits available i havent found yet? any sort of help is greatly appreciated

oh yea and i gotta do this by yesterday :D ...

Its not just a case of needing a different shifter ? (e.g. EL's had shifters with dog legs in them).

EA to EL gearbox is two inches shorter than the AU one. The stick will be two inches further forward, and the tailshaft will be two inches too long. I believe the crossmember will be wrong also. The EA bellhousing will not bolt up correctly to the AU structural sump.

ok i send an email to castlemain, lets hope they got an adapter bellhousing, or the au bellhousing bolts up. I was aware that the tranny was 2" too short thats why i threw this issue on teh forums. malwood's contact email returned as undelivered.

Botch put an AU 4speedauto into an NA fairlane, and he had to manufacture new mounts.
I know your is the other way round and a Manual, but it will give you a hint.

Adapter B/H will not work. If you make the B/H longer, the input shaft will be too short.

Yeah input shaft will be a problem. Sounds as if it's the extension housing that's longer, can't help thinking that's not going to be possible to change without changing the mainshaft - might be better to use an AU box. As to the bellhousing - not having the sump supports doesn't matter, at least not on mine and it got the crap flogged out of it regularly :)

mhm ... soundslike i should just sell the damn thing and buy a toploader ... much easier ... i need to buy a few of them anyway ...

so anyone wants a T5 with bellhousing?
