Looks good. I had the boot sent to me, and I did the installation myself. Bit of mucking around to fit the original foam (except the fat foam 'chunk', that's easy) it's original place but otherwise a relatively simple job. I didn't glue it down or do anything permanently binding in case I need to muck with it later on.
2nd pic to show the colour difference. Not huge, the difference is more noticable in natural sunlight where the blue of the gear knob shows it's slightly metallic nature. But seeing as the blue used in the T-Series trim isn't exactly the same, I'm not complaining - I'd like to use this same blue leather for my custom trim I'm in the process of designing.
Looks good. I got mine done too on my EL, and the console lid which had a cigerette burn in it (not me). I had a leather boot on my XR6 ute also.. and it was just one from a Momo one I got from Autotek. cuz a guy who works there lives in my street. It worked well. had elastic bottom and a leather lace at top.

This one is an Momo/Autotek custom jobbie, since the universal's don't fit the AU's well. I asked for a specific leather (perforated blue, closest to the other blue) and they've reproduced the original boot's size, and holes for easy installation.
can i ask what was the price for the boot, dont remember what it cost me. and what did they charge for modifying it. i got my boot/console lid for $40. Makes a big difference to the interior's look. Only thing I would like better.. is the EL-GT's material.. same stuff that make Akubra's outa.. rabbit fur?? LOL i dont know.
hey just saw pics of Robs new XR8.. did he get that XR with chrome door handles or copy you?
I offered to do paint protection on his car and fabric too. He said yes but has prob changed his mind now lol. silly man
I don't remember anyone on the forum having done it when i got my handles, but I don't think I was the first here to put them into an XR.
Paint protection?? He should be glad he didn't get it. I got that Wynns ****, and its a load of crap, the guy at the paint shop who did a warranty job for me confirmed it too. That protection shows up scratches/nicks/swirl marks/etc even more on the black cars, so I think Rob was wise!
Wynns is crap... I dont use that. And I hate to dissagree with you.. but paint protection (if done right) is the best thing you will ever do for your paint!

I have the paint protection and fabric done on mine. It sure makes it easier to clean.. I haven't had any problems and a lot of the marks that were on the car were easily buffed off with a lint free cloth after washing... The fabric protection was an absolute must with Mini Chaps in the back seat. It's withstodd the best she'd thrown at it (Milo, Orange juice, Mcdonald's - her usual weapons)
I'm coming up to the end of my Car wash stuff ( the stuff they gave me with the paint protection). IS there any tips on the most suitable stuff ??
I use Wax Guard paint/p
And the car wash stuff i use (cause now I can't get stuff from where i use to work which was awesome). I use Mequiars Soft Wash.
Back to the shifter boot subject here's a pic of mine now.
You'll eithe rlike it or hate my interior
I was thinking.. what was the **** word.. Frucker.. Sheter.. LOL.
You obviously mean shifter.. its a custom short throw mustang shifter from the states. The gear knob will neer fit on a aussie stick again, cause the thing had to be drilled out larger.

there are some issues with it though. #1 the knob aint screwed right down as it would be too short(but its tight as hell won't go any further down anyways). #2 unless you have long arms like Mr Sparkles(el2xr8) you HAD to lean forward. but now i have the shifter bolted to the oppersite side of the gear/b shaft makes it heaps better. We just normally have it on the U.S. side.

Can anyone tell me if you can buy the (MOMO) auto shift lever that's in the AU11 XR(8) at Ford dealers and/or Ford Wreckers??- there is a really good local Ford Wrecker (MJR Ford Wreckers) that stock all used (obviously) and new Ford parts. And is it possible to put it on an EL auto??
Thanks
