I lost reverse tonight :(

My job is delivering pizzas so without reverse, I'm screwed. I put the car in reverse, accellerated and heard a very loud and car-shakingly violent CLUNK! and then no reverse. If I put it in reverse now, it's like it's in neutral.

How is this fixed? Does it require an entire new transmission? Is it a clutch thing? How much will this crap cost me? It's an EA S-pak, 1989. Yes, it's a piece of shit, but it's also the only thing giving me an income. Please help :(

Yes, it's box rebuild time. As all the crap from the failed clutches has just gone through the good forward clutches.

If you can fit it yourself? You may be able to get a cheaper s/h one from a wreckers.

No, I don't know enough about cars to do it myself and nor do I have the equipment to try, despite being mechanically minded.

I was just quoted $700 for a reconditioned install :(

Go to a wrecker, they should have planty of 3speeds lying around, and they should be able to install it for cheap.
