I have a 1994 Ford Taurus with a bad transmission. I've been calling local junkyards, looking for a replacement. Some ask for more info, and some don't. The Taurus has a 3.0L, and the tranny is a 4-speed auto. The pan has 17 bolts. Does that make it an AXOD-E? Is that the same as an AX4S? What was the last year for the AXOD?
One of the yards I called asked me for the transmission code. They said it should be either an "X" or a "TL", and that it will be located on the door. I do not have the original door, and the car was repainted (due to a light accident), so that info is lost. What does the "X" or "TL" designator represent?
Please respond here as I don't get to view the board very often.
Thank you!!
