I have a 1994 Taurus with a bad transmission. It has a 3.0L V6, and the tranny is a 4-speed AOD with a 17-bolt pan. Does that make it an AXOD-E? Is that the same as the AX4S? What was the last year for the AXOD? How can I tell the AXOD apart from the AXOD-E (without gutting it)??
One junkyard I called asked me what the transmission code is. They said it should either be an "X" or a "TL", and that it is located on the door. My car does not have the original door, and the car was repainted due to a light accident. This information is lost. What does the "X" or "TL" designator signify?
Please respond
via email as I don't get to check the board often enough!
Thank you!!
