How much would it roughly cost to get a manual gearbox (out of an ed) put in an auto ed?

$1500 is a rough figure. You shouldn't have to pay more than that but it depends on where you get the parts and who you get to fit them.

The actual work will likely set you back $500 or so, that's what I usually ask anyway

Will also depend on if V8 or I6. V8 boxes are rarer and command a higher price. I know that all panels and parts ( in SA ), had a V8 box going a while back - mind you, I think they wanted $2500 for a full conversion kit

Also consider an EA box, I believe they had better ratios.
