Re: Rebuilding Toploader Shifter
I have 2 old ford magazine articles that show how to rebuild a toploader shifter. Do you have any old archived ford mags you can flick thru?
I can sympathise, that without any instructions it would complete pain to reassemble.
You can buy rebuild kits from rare spares. Tip (common break items): There's a curly wire spring with 2 prongs that holds the shifter steady in neutral. Make sure neither of the prongs are broken (makes the shifter VERY sloppy). There's a flat metal "U shape" spring that you have to push the shifter thru to find reverse. Again, make sure the prongs aren't broken - can make it easy to grab reverse when down shifting!
Cheers, and may the "Lego" force be with you!
