I want to swap a broken 5 speed by a T5 (-199).
Can somebody tell me what kind of tranny this is ?
Which tranny is this ?

I dont quite get what you mean, but I will ask a couple of questions:
1. What sort of car?
2. What numbers are on the tranny you want to know about (if you can read them)

I want to know what the old tranny is, so I can compare gear ratios. (want to avoid counting gears...)

The car is a cobra replica 351W equipped.

That box is a Toyota Supra gearbox, alloy case.

I would think that the Supra box would likely be stronger and cheaper than a T5??? T5s are *easy* to kill with a 289 or 302, let alone the torque of a 351...

I've seen many supra boxes failing ( as those were no of the rare turbo ones...).
For this case the T5 should be ok up to torque 300ft/lbs and 300hps.

Make sure you get a V8 T5, as you will bo over the limit on any other. Some Supras fail because there are about 7 different types that look identical externally, and the variation in strength is great.

Agree on the Supra boxes, it is with the T5s...you need to know what exactly you are using.
My T5 is a 1352-199 out of a '91 302 Mustang which carries the improved steel alloy. So this should work I guess.
