hey whats up. i have a 66 xr falcon with a 250 pre crossflow in it. was thinking of doing some performance mods (2v head 350 holley exuast system) and was told to change the diff from the standard i6 to one from a i6 ute. the dude said that the utes had higher diff ratio making it better for acceleration, is this true. With the other mods i mentioned would it make a difference.
The 188 powered Xr/t commercial ute,van has the 4.00:1 diff
221motors had 3.5:1 same as the manual sedan.
Consider a 5speed overdrive if you use the 4.00: diff
Just a minor terminology point, that is a lower ratio diff not higher. Lower ratio = larger number (4:1 is a lower diff ratio than 3:1). Sounds strange, but there you go!
thanks for the info guys. the 4.00 sounds interesting. would that increase performance with say a 4 speed single rail. are these diffs hard to come by. what would they be setting me back.
