Hey all I have an ED falcon 5sp box in perfect condition sitting in the shed at the moment and I'm tossing up weather or not to sell it.
On one hand I know when the turbo's go on my current box will be the weak point and a spare would be great.
But on the other hand it's sitting there wasting away when it could be making me money for something else on the car.
So what do you think? Keep it or sell it?
Oh and what sort of money do these things get anyway?

if u were looking at selling, ive seen em for $4-500. Hope it gives an idea.
Depends on whether u could raise the money to get another if u kill one or not (if u sell it, and kill ur other, would u have means to get new one) If u dont itll be worth keepin. If u do, its just dead weight imo

4th EB2 Fairmont, EL dash and interior, BBM, LSD etc etc
5th EB Fairmont Ghia 5L. All leather, lowered, exhaust etc
It would cost me $550 for bearings and having it shimmed to rebuild a box, plus whatever synchros I needed.
I was you I'd sell it and get a Supra box, they're supposed to be strong little buggers providing you get the turbo box (worth $900 or so s/h)

the car in question was a 1993 model supra atmo version. the guys turbo'd the n/a engine with a t88 it developed 612rwhp.......
the supra turbo 5spd is rated to 550hp but again i have seen cars running 800 odd hp run them.....
Thatll give u some idea of what the supra boxes can handle.
There was some in the quokka last week for around the $500 mark.
gm dstroya is using a turbo box in his setup
and im hoping to use a n/a in mine
hope that helped.

yeah but I can get the same sort of rating if not more out of the t5 with some mustang bits. sure it would be a little more $$ but it would be a brand new box.
Lots of people seem to think the t5 doesn't handle very much but I never heard of any one blowing one before but I havn't seen to many people run heaps of power through them.
I think I will just sell the box because even if I do need it later on it won't be for ages and the box may rust by then. Better off being used in someones car I think.
