Speedo/Clutch

My car is back on the road again after two very long, hard weeks. I still have a few little problems though. The first is the speedo doesn't work. I've hooked the drive gear up to the loom and the loom up to the plug near the old 4 speed connector, but it doesn't work! What's wrong?

Also, the clutch is soooo f**king heavy it's not funny!!!!! I've tryed adjusting it, but no help. I think I need to replace the cable as the pedal sticks out a lot further than the brake pedal, but if I back it off, the clutch slips. Any ideas?

a) Check the colour code in the plug back to the old loom. I have a feeling some positions change as they cross the plug. If so fix them. Also, try the old speed sensor unit. They do fail, so the one in the car could be a dud.

The only adjustment on I6 clutches is pedal height. You raise pedal height to get it level with the brake pedal. If you have to raise it much higher than that to get it to release, this is a sign the diagphram in the pressure plate is on the way out.(they bend) This will also make it very heavy. Backing it off should not make it slip, as it will still drive with no cable attached. Slipping is also a sign the PP is stuffed.
