Speedo gears

Hi all,

Have come across someone stating that the speedo gear in a Ford EA T5 box will fit onto the end of the speedo sensor in a Holden's T700 box.

Is anyone on here able to confirm this?

I'm also told that because the EA ran 3.45s, (or maybe some did,.. dunno?), that this resolved the speedo re-calibration, or pulse changes required if the gears were changed in say a Commodore VN from 3.08 to 3.45.

Any information anyone has on the gear present or details about the speedo sensor, etc,.. on the Ford side would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim.....

Re: Speedo gears

I think you will find the T700 runs a large diameter gear that will not interchange with a BTR gear.

Think the same now,.. did some looking around for other posts and on other Ford forums and it looks like the Ford gears have about 20 teeth or thereabouts,.. the T700, well in the VN anyhow has 45! I believe a 50 tooth gear will resolve my issue if I go from 3.08 to 3.45, otherwise I'll have to go with the 'electronic solution'.

Thanks for the reply.
