BA XR8 260 engine what is the redline mark before you should change gears.
and when puting the shifter in performance mode with automatic gear change's what revs does the auto change gears at, does it change at maximum revs or does it change before it reaches its redline mark....
i want to find when i am driving in performance manual mode at revs should i slap it into the next gear....
Getting a few tips for Saturday mate, I experimented a couple of times and found 5500 rpm seemed to be the average max to change up on. It is a waste of time waiting to get a few more hundred revs out of it. The way the ratios are set up between 1st and 2nd gear it still bogs down once you hit 2nd anyway. Trying to ring its neck in 1st to gain a few more revs when it hits 2nd does'nt seem to make any differance.
5500 is the mark, anything beyond that is a waste. Mine is manual and by the time 5500 comes up, split seccond later rev limiter cuts in and what a waste of time that is.
The rev limiter comes in spot on 5750rpm. In performance mode mine will change at exactly that point. If you are using SSS then you should look to change up at 5500 to give yourself enough time to avoid the rev limiter. By the time you change it should be at about 5700.

From what I believe the rev limiter is the same 260 and 290. I saw something today at Ford Dealer that said XR8 260kw made its max power at 4750 revs or it was very close to that. It was definiately was in the 4 area of revs, which I thought was low. I cannot be sure, I will check it out tommorrow as im back there again.
I run my Clubbie today again, roads were a bit wet, my Mrs was driving and I tell you what she wasnt holding back. It took third gear for me to catch it, and it was a car and some on me in no time. With a dry road and a good driver in that one, i will struggle to beat it.
Thats right about the 200 revs up your sleeve, as mine does exactly that.
I went out tonight put it in performance automatic shift mode, and watched it like a hawk by the time it changes it is at 5750rpm.there is no point in puting it in manual mode because it changes spot on at the peak of the revs everytime you are in performance auto mode, i dont think i could change it that good every time....
HAHA so you guys get the auto to help you cheat. I have to rev my POS to 5500 myself
then change becuase it wants to change earlier then that. Oh well your still going to have around 3 seconds on me anyway so i cant complian.
