Hey yall,
Just checkin on a rough price for the above & fitted?
I was thinkin no more then $1,000.00.
Shift Kit: $350.00 (mechanical/internals)
3.9-1 Gears: $450.00
Labour: $200.00
Total: $1,000.00 ish
Wat all yu guys think? Roughly.. would that be reasonable??
My ride is an XR8.

I would factor a bit more for the ratio change- new bearings, gaskets etc, it all adds up!

Is that all necassary goin from 3.45 too 3.9's?

Just depends- a diff might seem to be fine but when they pull it down it might need to have extra work done on it- I recently got the ratio changed in my 9" and it cost me an extra $600 for basically a total rebuild which I wasn't aware it needed.

Just doesn't hurt to have a bit of extra cash set aside just in case!

Wise words fella.
I was just a lil' concerened on the price, thats all.. but you have calmed me down majorily. Getting the work done today, and ive been told.. that it will cost no more then $1,000.00... Im more then happy to pay for that, considering the work done, and time needed.
Second gears chirps shuld be par for the course!

my shift kitted ed xr6 chirps the rears and gives a hard kick changing, yours will probly give you whiplash

Is your xr8 a AU carlos ??? I think i saw some where that it was. IF so your wasting your time changing diff gears if its a auto. The ecu's torque reduction strategies will get even worse and completely null the gain. Run a search here and on the austrailian site you will see heaps of threads on it.
