What does everybody recommend?
I don't think a 4 speed BW even modified would take 400Hp.
AOD are expensive to mod

Dare I say a GM T700? that is even hard for me to think about!

Idea is twin turbo W5.0L into a E series falcon wagon and I want auto.

I think you will find several cars running around 400hp with the 4 speed auto's. They are good strong transmissions if you don't cook them. Get an aftermarket stall conv, a large trans cooler and some modifications to quicken up the shift to reduce heat and change the fluid often and you shouldn't have any problems.

The problem is that I don't want to stop at 400Hp, it's possible to get that naturally aspirated (not cheap), but to stop at 400HP with twin turbo's would be silly

Still interested to see what is achievable with a BW 4 speed, just I am not nice to transmissions at times.

sorry to hijack the thread but a guy at work was telling me something about this today...something about shims and stuff

2. apparently its not that expensive? get it done when you get the tranny serviced...

The main modification I know of is ther replacement of the S5 solenoid and modifications to the valve body to increase line preasures and quicken up the shift. I thnik the mods to the valve body cost around $500.

its called a shift kit ive got one on my Au it takes the slack out of ur auto and gives a harsher more positive shift. i love it, doesnt just needlessly rev out and not go anywhere anymore and kicks down straight away when u give it a bit. i now cop wheel spin when going into second when im giving it to it with 17's and lsd and its only a six

If your in melbourne i can highly recommend where i got mine done at preston automatics and differentials it cost me $550 all up for the shift kit, performance tranny cooler and tranny service, really good guys down there and they do good work

AODE/4R70W is the way to go. build it tough and use '94-'95 5.0 Mustang EECIV with an EEC-Tuner or Tweecer to change shift points,converter lock up,line pressure etc etc. This will also control your engine.
Not cheap but nothing good is.
Otherwise Richmond gear 5spd or Tremec TKO.

T700's require just as much money to make tough and even then aren't as strong as an AOD.
