Hey Guys,

My T5 has developed a VERY noticably whine in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I've been told by the tranny place the box needs new bearings and I'm looking at about $500 to replace them! Also, when cold going from 3rd to 4th it clunks into 4th and when in 5th, I have to go back to 3rd before I go to 4th otherwise it just refuses to go into gear hot or cold. Me thinks a sychro ring is stuffed. How hard would it be to get a bearing/synchro kit and do the work myself? How much would a kit set me back, or do you think it's something best left to the pro's??

$500 sounds o/k to me. A long shot try some quality synthetic oil in it thats maybe not as thick.But it sounds terminal to me..
Pluss with that money I guess you get warrenty...
