Im going to take the plunge and put a T5 gearbox in my car. What are all the parts i need all up. My Car is a 1990 EAII Fairmont Ghia. Im going to start sourcing parts. Also SPHELL were was your conversion done and are you happy with the job.

geabox, new crossmember, clutch pedal box, clutch cable, manual ecu(i think you can get away without it) some weird plastic bits/clips that go on the pedal box. spare skin and bandaids for when you take the dash out.

the crossmember is a large bit that holds the gearbox up against the car. you will easily recognise it. its about half way along the gearbox and is bolted on either side of the box.

Will i need to get new rubber mounts to?. Cuase the automatic mount must be different surely.

There are a few different cross mambers around for the EA.

The EA I has different mounting points on the chassis to the EA II onward.

The EA II has a 4 speed, which is the same length as the 5speed box. The cross member for this is a straight looking one.
On the other hand, the EAI needs a cross member which has a large curve in it to compensate for the longer gearbox. There is about 4 inches difference.

Figure out which one you need so you get the right one. Oh, and the EA I manual cross members are not easy to get a hold of.
