Just wodering if anyone else is getting a thump in their BA auto when going from park to drive and when driving, usually when going up the gears. and not driving it hard either.

we were getting a thump when slowing down to an intersection and getting to 10-20 k an hour and then taking off again and we would here a small thump but now its got louder and more often.

Anybody no of this problem? I thought this auto was suposed to be smooth and quiet.

This is a common problem, friend of mine managers a car rental firm they have had 3 out of 10 BA falcons with this problem. Will need to take car back to ford as it will be under warranty.

likely to be the transmission valves. had mine changed. better, but not perfect. oh well, back to the dealer.

i have/had the problem of the THUMP when going from park to reverse/drive. I dunno if this is the fix but I stopped it when I came to a stop (parking the car) i would lift the hand brake then put it into park..hasn't happened since...i do get another thump when accelerating or deaccelerating sometimes but i think mine is from the driveshaft...

mmmm, interesting , thanks guys, so much for the new smoothe flash auto. My ef auto is more smoother, but a little more noisier...slower to to change gear... and...um..maybe i should shut up.

thanks guys as i should teach the mrs to drive a man. thats where im heading now, sick and tired of replacing trans. and man is quicker of the line and better fuel economy.

Its essentialy the same box as the EF, and for that matter EA series II.
