how good is the toploader? i was thinking about getting a mustang with a 302 and toploader but am a little skeptical becuase i dont want to have to upgrade later on when i could just get something better right now. thanks for the help.

Good for 500 fwhp. There is not really a better option as far as four speeds are concerned.

Or a Tremec 5sp not sure the power they handle but should be similar to a toploader

I'm not going to say "the only" but "one of the only" 4 speeders stronger than the top loader is the bull nose top loader used on the big blocks. Go for it!

Top Loaders are strong as it gets.

Most people don't know (and those that do know rarely admit it) that all of the A9X toranas had to use top loaders and 9" diffs because the holden gear kept braking under the loads!

Just the gear linkages are pita at times.Strong as, used is H.O 351's years back.The TKO Tremec is the only box thats up to anything a top loader can handle...Or T5/6...
