Can anyone confirm that the shifter that bolts to the gear box output extension housing on a toploader is XW/XY, and the shifter that bolts to the metal box on top of the tranny hump is XA/XB? Or is it the other way around?
I have both types of shifters and was wondering which belongs to what model and if one type works better than the other?

Other way round

Shifter mounted to tranny hump = XW/XY
Shifter Mounted to Extention housing XA/B
XA style is a better shifter
