Well for my turbo EA im looking for a diff that will hold up to some punnishment. Ive settled on 3.08 gears as this will provide for good cruising with the proposed 3speed (C4 or C6). I have an EA diff at the moment 3.08:1 open center and im looking at minispooling it to strengthen it and get better launches. I know the dangers with it but im under the impression that with 300+rwkw i could be frying LSD clutches.

Now the EA has 25spline axles which are by no means as strong as the 28 spline later axles. Now will a minspooled 25spline diff be sufficently strong compared to a minispooled 28spline center. Also
Can 28 spline axles be used with my exsisting EA center or will the whole center need to be changed?

I have asked a similar question to about 10 different diff shops around australia, all of high stature, and all deal with race, drag and street cars. Not 1 of them said that a BW will cope with that kind of grunt if driven hard all the time. Most did say that it would last if babied a bit, and only driven hard on the strip now and then, but none would guarantee it. They also would not give a warranty on a BW with that kind of horse power, but were offering between 6 and 12 months if were to get a 9" form them.
If you are still going to stick with the BW, go with the 3.23 gears, as they crown wheel is 1/8th inch thicker, and will give a bit more added strenght.

The car would only be drag raced once to find out what its capable of, appart from that it would be a 100% street car, no racing, and 90% of its work would be off boost and power.

Im looking at mabey getting an EF 3.08 entire diff assembily, does anyone know if my EA speed tailshaft and EA trailing arms will mount up to this diff.

Failing that a minispooled EA 3.23, or EB 3.27 v8 diff will be chosen.

Whats the diff between a full spool and a mini spool?

I have a full spool that i would offload cheap if anyone is interested. It supposably fits a BW diff and i think its 28 spline.

i am running 3.7 gears, a 28 spline axles, 4 pin from a xr8, and a detriot locker.

the 28 slpine can be found in any ed or newer diff

the difference between ea-ed and ef and newer is the ef and newer have a different input pinion length and will reguire a different tailshaft.

the 28 spline axles are just like whats in a 9 inch the center is similar, the weakest part of the whole thing is the gearsets, and even so, the latest gear out now have a different curviture on them and now can handle more abuse/power then older diffs.

6boost's car runs a borgie with 554 rwhp, he has completed a stoopid amount of full noise passes on the strip on slicks and over 3000k's on the road and 80+ dyno passes. still he has had no problems.

3.7 gears sounds a tad low for my liking. Being that the engine wont be a big rever. Im going to try and keep the BTR85LE trans as long as it lasts and with this trans i could run a 3.7 or 4.11 diff relativly easly but with a 3speed C4 or equivelent i wouldnt want to go lower than 3.23 really.

I could possably get an EF diff (3.08 2pinion) and tailshaft and mini spool that. Would minispolling it remove the problem of the 2pinion center as it removes the open spider gear 2pinion center?
