Hey guys,

Just want to know if anyone has dropped in a Tranny cooler for their 4sp slushbox. I think mine gets pretty warm as the transmission dipstick gets pushed out about an inch. it makes me wonder whether the oil needs a few extra fins to cool down with. any suggestions.
i'd rather spend the 100-200 bucks on a cooler than a new transmission.

I got a tranny cooler with my car when I bought it, and havent had any problems with heat...

The issue with my box is its a BTR85LE not the 95LE used in the EB's....

anyone know if my tranny's seperate computer will run the EB 4 speed if (when) my 4 speed kicks it? I know deep down i'll go manual, but I would still like to know my options

Our car came with one aswell when we bought it, that was back ages ago when it was a yr old.

I'm not sure that by putting one on it the dipstick shooting out will stop, cos ours does that aswell

sikEA, whats the difference between the boxes besides the numbers? what are the advantages of the 95LE over the 85LE

My EB1 has a tranny cooler! Whats this 85/95 crap?? I thought they used the same tranny from EA2-ED didnt they?

Nope, there are different versions of the 4 speed from the EAII to the ED, probably small upgrades/improvements along the way, most likely in the 'electronics' department.

The 3 speed came out factory with a trannie cooler, I always thought the 4 speed would as well... Strange.

Have a chat to a some trannie professionals as I am pretty sure there would be a specific operating temperature that is preferred by the trannie, and colder my not always be better.

Just my 2c.

I've also heard that the XR6/8 had a different automatic transmission, but I have no idea if that's true.

XR does have a dfiferent tranny, i think for ratios more than anything else, but apparently tougher too.

tranny coolers are normally fitted when a towbar is - at least the factory towbars. my and my brothers car have them (EAI, EBII) and we both had factory towbars.
