Hey all,

Does the computer turn on the RHS thermofan if it senses the transmission oil overheating? I ask as the inbuilt cooler is on the RHS and the computer knows the transmission oil temp and can control the fans independantly...?

If not is there an easy way to override the RHS fan, so I can switch it on when towing up steep hills on a hot day, for e.g.

My extra transmission cooler is also infront of the right fan,

Pretty sure the thermofans only work on engine temp. Not on the actual trans oil temp. Really running an external oil cooler with the normal trans cooler (in Rad) should be ok. Could always look into a heavier duty radiator so that it runs a bit cooler.

It is possible to put in a switch to overide the computer and have the fan's on maximum speed...

I'm sure there is another thred on this, you may want to search!!!

Don't know what sort of car ya got, but EEC V vehicles will adjust fan speed if transmission temp gets too high, you may hear this as a faster idle at the lights on a hot day.

You could also think about installing an auto trans temperature gauge.
Auto Meter have an in-line adaptor that fits in the oil line to the cooler, the sensor then fits into the adaptor. Neat idea.
