Transmission Problem - 93 ClubWagon
I've got a '93 E-350 ClubWagon that I just picked up. It has 138K on the clock and sat for 3 years before I got it. It's got the 5.8l V8 and that's about all I know right now. I have not had a chance to give her a tune-up yet, but I have driven the van about 150 miles and it runs all right. One thing that is weird, and I suspect is not normal behavior is the Overdrive. In order to get going from a stop, I normally have to hit the overdrive button to turn it off. I then have to manually turn it on at around 55 mph on the highway, but if I try to overtake someone (yeah right), when the transmission kicks down, it seems to just slip or free wheel. In order to get a kickdown, I have to turn Overdrive off again.
Any ideas as to what the culiprit could be? I am hoping that a good transmission flush, refill, and filter will help out, but that might be a pipe-dream.
Any help would be great!
