I'm perplexed at what rear came in my car. It seems to have the look of a 7.5 or 8.8, not a 9" or 8" type. Did they make these cars with the 7.5? I know 8.8's didn't come out until '83.

i cant remember what they called it but there was a weak rearend put in base model galaxies with straight 6's and some 302's, it has a rear cover unlike the 9". small axle shafts etc. cant take much abuse.

This one has 152k on it and has never had any problems. I was wondering if there are any gears available for it. I'd have to assume it's a 7.5. I had one in my 84 mustang with a built 306 and it had traction loc. That rear took some serious street abuse without issue, although the Galaxie is a much heavier car. Thanks for the response. Not much traffic here.
