Hi all,
I've just changed the diff oil in my EF Fairmont.Only thing is I've used 85w-140 viscosity instead of 80w-90 ,as specified by Ford.Is this going to be a problem ,or should I dump the oil and start again with the correct grade.I do not have L.S.D.
Also what brand oil is recommended for this model.
Any comments would be appreciated.

that oil should be fine especially if its got a few ks on it...how many ks are on it btw?
im pretty sure my tranny/driveline rebuilder mate uses that grade in most of the diffs and gearboxes that come into his shop mainly the heavy duty/4WD applications.
He uses pennzoil everything. in my opinion, theyre absolutley one of the best brands known around

i cant see a problem i would think it would better 4 it if anything.

out of the common brands good the better ones i know include pennzoil, penrite, mobil and shell. any other ones i forgot people?

Car has done 190,000k's and i have used Penrite oil

that grade oil would suit it fine id say

and is there a reason why u think its the wrong diff oil? or just makin sure...

how does it feel when driving?
no more noise than usual?
