I always thought the diff in my EL XR6 wasn't working properly. Everytime I did a burnout it would only leave one line. I lowered my car today so I decided to clean of all the flith covering the white sticker on the RHS of the diff. To my horror it was a 3.08 single spinner! Now I'm sure all XR's up till late AUII had a 3.45 LSD STANDARD. The only thing I can think of is that the previous owner had to replace the diff and thought putting a GLi diff in would be cheaper.
Now my 2 questions. How much better should my car go if it had the 3.45 gears it was meant to have? Also want to know how much it costs for a C/O LSD. I'm going to diff places to check out prices. Maybe they might do a trade in for the diff I have in it now.

What rpm does it sit on at 100kmh? This will tell what the ratio is for sure.

It's a Manual is sits at 2100rpm when I had my 15's on. Supprises me more, becasue I would have thought with the 3.08 diff it would rev about 1900rpm. The sticker says it's a 3.08 and it definately isn't LSD and doesn't have the tag on the plug. Only put the new wheels on few days ago, and followed suit with the Superlows. Made this shocking discovery today when fitting the springs. Ohh well, I still payed a good price for the car when I got it anyway.

lift the back wheels put the car in neutral, and see if they move in the same direction when you rotate them by hand....if the wheels spin in opposite directions, its a single spinner, if they move in the same direction, its LSD, and just worn out.
Mine spins only one wheels most of te time, but mine is worn out.
If you feel like it, you could take the diff cover off and see what the ratio that is stamped on the crown wheel says.

No it's not an LSD. I did spin the wheel and the other one just stayed still. They didn't even make a 3.08 LSD I don't think. I thought all the cop chasers and LSD utes and wagons had 3.23.
EBXR: My speedo most probably is out. I removied all doubt about that when I put the bigger 17's on.

Is your XR6 an auto? If so than only the manual equipped XRs generally had a slippery. Slippery with the auto was an option. Manual & Auto had the same ratio.
