General TechHave a question that is not covered by one of the other categories? This is the forum for all other items not specifically covered in other categories.
there is no such thing as too little power. 1000hp from a turbo setup, that is amazing. Is this a i6 or a Windor setup? BTW how much does it hurt the pocket?
Ever heard of a certain part of an EB motor called a head gasket?
Also, there is no way the standard drivetrain could handle that sort of power, if the engine could deliver it. You'd be looking at re-engineering the whole car for starters.
I think that even if you could get that power from the engine, you'd be foolish to, as the reliability would be next to zero. I assume this was a somewhat rhetorical question!
Cheers

How much boost?
With all things you can do it but you need more that 8k for this one.
I calculated that you'd need to have a turbo capable of producing at least 70psi boost. I dont know how big your inter-cooler will have to be, but for the heat the turbo will produce, it'll have to be pretty big. To be able to force such a huge amount of air down its throat you'll need some really expensive cam with lots of duration. You'll probably need to upgrade the cooling system as well otherwise the 6 will be a pile of molten metal. Could I suggest a super refrigerant of some sort? The oil is probably going to get hot so to stop it getting cooked and coking i suggest quite a big oil cooler too.
What do you plan to run the car on?? Standard lawnmower juice won't cut it. I dont know much about what drag racers use but maybe ethanol?? Anyway it won't be legal on the street.
I have no idea how you'll reinforce the block to stop it turning into snow once you hit the boost.
i know this guy who does mods eg turbos for a living he said for 8k he can turbo my falcon to produce 1000bhp using his own custom mod he designed. on regular pump fuel and basicily everything is being strengthed to take the torque
I sincerely hope you are kidding...cause if you are not and you actually beleive this guy go for your life...see how close you can get to 1000bhp for $8k.
