my cars due for its 110k service, i had the auto fluid flushed through about 15 litres at the 100k service and the trans fluid is brown again! Is this normal? It was bright red initially. it has the supplimentry auto oil cooler at the front of the radiator.

Also the engine oil on the dipstick is at the half way mark between add more and full. is this much oil consumption normal?

Please note when the car was lent to my brother it was severley thrashed.

It should stay red all the time. I think you should ask your brother to go in halves to pay for a recon gearbox.

For an NF V8 four speed auto - give me a quote then....and remember I said "rebuild" not exchange unit.....'cos I don't trust some of them a real lot.

I payed $1400 for full rebuild of my auto box..even though its only a six, would there really be another $3600 in it? Admitedly that was about 4 years ago...

I dunno, whats the differences b/w v8 box and i6 box?

Give me a manual anyday, auto's are starting to give me the shits.

I'm aware ignoring it isnt the solution, Its getting flushed again in January when its due for service. I'm trying the "redline" stuff this time, apparently it dosent discolour. I find that hard to beleive.

I did tow a heavy trailer on a few occasions but i didnt think regularly enough to burn the oil allready...
