1989 5.0 check valve ...

I broke the check valve on my 89 Lincoln. So I bought a new one to replace it. When was taking the female side of it off, the tubing broke.

Can I just plug this thing up? It's the damned emissions crap. It's an air pump and it blows air into the exhaust. If I plug it, it still has plenty of places to go. Would it hurt anything to just plug it? Is there a way I can get rid of the air pump? Where would I get a belt at that was the right size.

I don't have to pass any smog test or inspection, because Oklahoma doesn't have anything like that.

so long as you dont leave any leaks i cant see how it would hurt the car at all removing it (though i have no specific knowledge of your type of car)

surely some generic automotive shops would have different belt sizes available? just measure the length you need with a peice of string wrapped around the pulleys and take it in with you.

I fixed it with a piece of copper pipe. I found out it would fry my catylitic converter if I didn't do it. Dealer was going to charge me like $100. If I ever get the time I'm going to remove all that crap and put a normal exhaust. It was a $1600 car, and it only has to last me 2000 miles. It's in excellent shape though :) Except the windows don't like to roll up and down, the radio doesn't work, it didn't have a tail pipe (cost me $30 for a hangar and about 4 feet of pipe), and it needs a new battery.
