I've recently started getting a strong fuel smell after fueling up and getting trouble code P0442.

A quick search indicates that this is usually associated with some sort of fuel system leak, hence the strong fuel oder after filling up. I'm thinking that it's either a leak in the fuel filling hose or a leak in the gas cap. I

Does anyone have any prior experience with a similar model Ford? I figured it's one of these problems, but I'd rather check with others to look for easy stuff first.

Normally to detect a small Evap leak, you need to hook up a "Smoke Machine" to find the leak. AQlso make a good visual inspection of the EVAP system and inspect the fuel cap.

What parts of the EVAP system should I be looking at? Specifically I'm looking for leaks around the fill line hose where it meets the gas tank and the fill door. Other than that, I'm not sure where else to look. Any specifics to look for?

In the rear of the vehicle behind the rear axle, there is a plastic contraption there with hoses and crap. Check there.

I took this to the dealer to have it looked at and it was a faulty fuel pump gasket that was causing the leak. I couldn't see the fuel leakage since it was a very minor leak and only gas vapor was escaping.
