Question 2004 ford escape 3.0 dura tec

need some info if anybody has it... have a 2004 ford escape with a 3.0 duratec motor. eighth digit of vin is a 1. my question is can i use a 3.0 dura tec out of a taurus with a eighth vin with a s? motor looks to be the same except for the front timing cover. was wondering if i just changed everything off the old motor, timing cover, balancer, pulleys, etc. is there a difference? thanks in advanced for any info on this.

First, assume the trunk is electric and not a cable? You may have to remove the interior panels to open it by hand. On the doors, good chance the strikers may have shifted. Verify the door latches are in the open position (you'll see on a door that's still functioning), then apply some grease to the striker and slowly close the door and see where it's hitting.
