2005 freestar power windows

Hello, new guy here. I am trying to help my neighbor with his freestar window motor, driver side. I pulled the door panel off and when I tapped on the motor it started working. We went and bought a new motor but I am not sure of the procedures of how to change it. I tried searching this site for instructions but can't find any. Is there a diy for window motor change? Do you just support the window with a block of wood then reach in through the speaker hole and unbolt the motor? Or do you have to drill out rivets and remove the regulator also? Vehicle is a 2005 freestar. Thanks.

Re: 2005 freestar power windows

Since you have the panel off, check inside the door to make sure the window regulator wiring is not in line with the holes to be drilled into the door inner panel. Using a 12.7 mm (0.5 in) drill bit, drill out the drill dimples.

The window regulator motor has a counterbalanced spring. The window must be in the up position to remove the motor or blocked to prevent the window from suddenly raising. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. Remove the bolts and the window regulator motor.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Thanks Bert, the change went easy when I realized what dimples you meant.
