Question 220 xr8 on gas I need more go

Hi All,

I have a XR8/220 currently running a GAS AND PETROL set up which includes an Impco 425 mixer that I have been told is about as big as is availible my question is does anyone know if there is anything that will be less restrictive when renning petrol and also what other mods should I be looking at? Exhaust ? chip etc?
and I do know what most would be thinking....a new 220 on gas? but I use this as my work car as well and do about 80,000k a year.

any advice would be appreciated.

You could piss the impco mixer off and see if there's a gas throttle body available for them from Gas research in dandenong...

Why?

My turbocharged ZL runs better on gas than petrol. It has electronic gas injection, far less tendency for pinging, costs about half as much and doesn't need the extra injectors to cut in (which the petrol system does) so is more economical even on full (12psi) boost.

Bugger! I've got to pay my own!!

I can only afford V8 power on a I6 budget.

The mixer builder is XR9UTE (Pete).
The IMPCO mixer stock flows 325 cfm at 28" h20
It can be ported to flow 425cfm if you spend the time on it.
Thats a 30% increase BTW. Nothing to sneeze at.
GRA dont flow more and cost heaps more (my 0.02)

T3 man. Can you tell me more about your gas injection please.
email me with details if you want.
tonyk@chariot.net.au
I have been looking to get into vapour injection with a motec controller for my engine (and a few others here in SA) and would like to know what you have there.

TIA

Please excuse the dumb questions but how to port the gas mixer? Should I be taking material out or just polishing the inside?

BTW anyone have any ideas on std cfm without gas mixer?
in other words what should be the benchmark I am trying to get to for the car to run on petrol ass if the gas isn't there?

Thanks

PS: I wanted gas injection fron the start but several around Sydney told me that a reliable system wasn't availible yet they expected 12-18 months away. I am interested to hear more about yours T3.
