I was looking into replacing my 3.9litre and have been told that not all 4.0litres...eg eb to el fit ....anyone done any engine swaps?

Yes some club members have done this modification. It is definitely possible (the EF-EL-AU ones require more fiddling around and expense though). A guy named Mallyboo put an ED 4.0 engine and 4 speed auto in his EA Fairmont Ghia, but he hasn't been seen here in a while.

What is the differences when you want to update an ea or eb to a later model engine?...if anyone knows please reply...would hate to buy something that doesnt fit.

It appears if I can find a EB-ED it would be the least drama....only a pulley change...I had heard there was a small difference there.

Now who has a hot EB-ED six laying around....or even a very tired one suit rebuild.

Check the for sale section, I think some guy was auctioning an EF/EL XR6 motor. I know it's not what you're after but it would be awesome if you could be bothered doing it.
