Has anyone done a 400M ci and c6 swap into a xa (coupe or other)? Would it all bolt straight in, assuming i had the right engine mounts etc etc? What would be involved with adjusting the front suspension? Me knowledge of engine swaps is limitted so be as thorough as you can!! :>
as the 400 is basically a cleveland block with a higher deck height ( not to mention crank etc ) I see no reason why it wouldn't bolt in.( I am willing to stand corrected ) Personally I would run either a 'normal' cleveland or a 385 series big block.
Oh well, it's up to you if you have it on hand & it goes alright.
From what I've heard though, 400M's don't have a huge following or a great reputation for high performance, they are more of a "lazy" motor to be set up for lower revs + torque. I've seen a few in F series trucks.
Try this site, gives a great overview of the what the motor is and does, and how to hot it up - basically swap the heads with 2V Closed Chambers, swap the cam and voila as the french say - like the article says - its a Cleveland with a taller deck - and if you've already got one its a lot cheaper than building a big block.
