just pondering, exactly what needs to be swapped over to put a 5litre in an ED thats originally left the fectory with a 4 litre.

i understand the motor, gear box and ECU and looms need swapping but what else? K Frame? front suspension? radiator? not 100% sure

i wanto start collecting bits soon.

not realted to topic but do you have a bigger pic of the pic that is in your avatar? the reason being the rims look like the kind i used to have on my AU but i dont know what they were called....maybe you do....that is if they are the same?

Ohhh no! is it really gonna be worth all the trouble!? i mean if u really wanna v8 then fair enough go for it but the stock E-series V8's are no better than the I6, what minimal gains they have over in power is lost in extra weight...

yes i understand that
but theres a large gain, u can only go so far with modifications to the i6, the v8 theres much more part available especially in the US

I'd sell it and get something with a V8 already in it. Saves so many issues.

No point tellin him to buy a 5l - he wont have a bar of it lol He's dead set on doing it.

Of some of the things you mentioned...

K Frame? Probably yes although fordfan351 has modified his to suit the V8. But looking at my K frame they seem totally different to the 6. For starters they dont have that bar which stoops you getting the sump off.
front suspension? 8's had uprated springs and uprated swaybars.
radiator? Yes they had an uprated radiator.

You'll need fuel lines as the fuel filter is under the rear seat as apposed to being on the firewall on 6's. Brake booster was uprated, you'll need the tacho dash from an 8cyl, exhaust obviously, they also had alloy tailshafts. Theres probably a lot missed which you'll find when you get to doing it.

If you need, I can get a set of engine bay wiring looms from an eb2 xr8 for $150 (neg)

Well I've been there and done that and I can give you some good advice buy an xr8, it will definatly work out cheaper in the long run and you wont have any hassels with rego and insurance, I bought an EB xr8 over a year ago for $6500 and was in mint condition. but if you really want to do you will need everythin that you mentioned, Im still using my original radiator but you will need a k-frame, the front springs should be alright I didnt change mine.

You would be better off buying a write off or buying the complete package from a wrecker and make sure the loom and computer you get is out of a EB 2 or ED

firewall mounted fuel filter was up to EA2. eb1 had it under the rear seat
