I'm building an 1982 XE with a 351c. The car will be used in a childrens charity bash. Im trying to increase the fuel capacity without taking up too much space. Apparently the late 1982 V8 Fairlane & LTD come standard with an 80L fuel tank. Can anyone confirm this? Do the 6cyl 83 model Fairlane/LTD have an 80L capacity as well?

If they do will the tank out of a Fairlane/LTD fit in place of the 63L xe tank???

IM pretty sure the XE did have an 80L tank but i dont have much idea whether it would fit on properly. If its for a bash does it need to fit so it looks good? U could just do a bit of careful securing....:)

Get a fairmont ghia tank out of an xe, they fit straight in and are 80lt capicity. First time I filled my xe ghia I thought the petrol bowser was trying to rip me off, I'd never had a falcon that took over 70lt's to fill before.

It is a Fairmont Ghia but it originally had a 6cyl.
Might try and empty the tank and do a refill.
I hope it is an 80 or close to it, cause I'll leave it be, possible put a small aux tank in the boot.

Im trying all options at the moment. My ultimate goal is to remove the tank to allow a dual exhaust either side, maybe get a custom tank made up.

Not sure if I should take the C4 out and put a T5 behind the 351C. Its getting used in a bash, not sure if the T5 can withstand almost 1900kgs of weight including the car.

All XD-XE 6cyl and most XD-XE V8 Falcons have a 72L tank. V8 Fairmont Ghia's have an 80L tank. Not much in 8L's really.

Why don't you fit a supplementary tank into it? In an XD it is easy - fuel tank ex-mini cooper fits into the spare wheel well perfectly. You might have to be more inventive for the XE because spare wheel is on the side.

I found the Datsun 200B 50L fuel tank fits between the 2 rear wheel arch behind the back seat. I think thats the way I'll go. I'll keep searching thou, cause I really want to remove the standard fuel tank to make way for the dual exhaust. Its a big job, I just have to be a little patient.

Because of the same plastic tank issue I ran my twin exhaust to the diff only. Sounds mint, itsa twin 3 inch.

I've also got a HD Hayman Reece tow pack that i'd love to get rid of.
