84 302 into 85 falc ute

Firstly is this a legal move?

The 302 is an unleaded motor from a crown vic from the states going to replace a leaded 4.1 six.

I understand the mechanics of the swap but would like to know if the liscensing dept will kick up a fuss.

Engineers certifiacte should stop all the fuss for a start, you will have to comply with all ADR's for the engine you put in, such as emmisions etc, but being a USA motor dont know how that works.

Contact a local engineer who should have all the answers for you, and try local transport authority on paperwork required.

The car will have to be converted to unleaded (including filler, pump, etc) or straight LPG.
What transmission will you use?
Some aussie brakets may be needed (I think the alt, pwr steer are in different positions)

Yes thats a point, you may have major problems as the steering components are on the other side, so starter motor and things like that, may cause problems with clearances.

Interestign about having to convert it over to unleaded setup ie filler restriction and such as we originally had it in an 84 f100 running on super no probs with rego or insurance.

I was going to source an aussie bellhousing to suit a single rail and use xw headers.

The motor uses a reverse rotation water pump and serpentine belt drive. Do the late model aussie 5.0's use this setup or a standard rotation pump? As the motor needs a new pump as well.

As it states the latest street machine magazine (apparently) you cant put and older motor into a newer car running adr's for that year. Pretty crap if you ask me. But heaps of people have done this..I did..for 10years and got it registered everytime. 351/378 into an XF..why not!..
