96' Escort MFI 1.9L 5 speed

I want to mod my car to make it faster, I just put in a cold air intake, after that I am going to get new spark plugs and wires. I was thinking maybe MotorCraft. I'm trying to get a few ideas as to what else I could do to help the performance of my vehicle. Any suggestions?

You could change the headers and exhaust , fit new intake , camshaft , get a remap etc etc , the list is endless dependant on how much you wish to spend and condition of engine .

Not much has really been done to the engine, I do tend to drive it hard, new clutch(not performance), it was in one accident since I've had it but it has a new radiator, ac compressor and front end. I did put in a cold air intake(Spector)

I think what R.S. was getting at was how much are you willing to send to make it faster?

Chewing on asphalt and drinking dinosaur wine

Right now I don't have much, I get what I can when I have the money. My Spector filter is connected to a flex tube and I'm looking at around $70 for MotorCraft spark plugs and wires. So right now just cheap stuff I can fit on
