i have a 99 explorer v6, and for the first time today it got really hot and started to drive funny. I know the iac needs replaced but my appt to have done is later this week. anyways as it overheated my rpms raised about 600-700 i turned the heat on to try to lower the temp it just got hotter. and the heat from the vents was unbearably hot. any suggestions

it has 112xxx on it now i did the thermostat today and iac and it runs like a top just the only thing now is it seems to idle a little lower than it should
computer may take a few run cycles to dial in the new iac.
