Here goes.
Turn the key to ignition on. Hear the fuel pump kick on and shut off (as expected). Turn key to start, engine cranks right up then immediately dies.
If I then turn key to start again (without turning it back to ignition off), it turns over, but never hits.
Turn the key to ignition off and back on (hear the fuel pump again) turn to start and cranks right up and immediately dies.
I know this HAS to be fuel related. It acts as if the fuel pump doesn't run when the engine starts. But I can hear it when I turn the ignition on.

The first time it did this, I kept trying. It finally started up ok. Drove it home, just before getting home it was trying to die, but I managed to get it home (I downshifted out of overdrive and it quit stumbling) when I pushed the clutch and took my foot off the accelerator it died, but I clutched it and it fired back up. Managed to keep it going until I was in the driveway...
Now it just starts and dies...

Any suggestions here?

guessing no check engine light since you didn't mention it so i would check fuel pressure, easily done with a gauge, theres a port on the fuel rail on the engine.

Hello

If it is not a fuel presure problem,it will more than likely
be the idle speed compensator,and a cleaning of the Throttle
body.

If is stays running with your foot slightly on the gas, then it could be the IAC, but if you lose power on accel and it stumbles a lot, I would check the fuel pressure like 390wagon stated.
