Cheers.

I think it would be a big and expensive job. Better/easier/cheaper IMO to upgrade complete car to newer model that already has ABS. EB ABS is fairly agricultral and takes a fair bit to get used to.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.
The EF upgraded from Bendix to Bosch ABS for reduced stopping distances.
There are quite a few components that would need to be changed over, but if a written-off EB II GLi with ABS (or similar) was found cheaply, it would not be very costly. I intend to do this myself, one day...

There was a kit to do a retro upgrade when ABS first became available and it is possible (but unlikley) a dealer might still have one in stock. I don't have the part number but its called the "LC5 Pump Pack Bendix ABS System" and consists of the hydraulic modulator, ECU, road wheel speed sensors, tone wheels and the hydraulic and electrical sensors. It was expensive (decided that it was too expensive for the NB) but if there are any kits still in stock they might want to quit them at a lower price now.

I agree... i wouldnt be surprised if it caused more accidents than its saved.

Agreed!!!
Scared the shit out of me when it first came on!
It's like playing hide and seek with the brake peddle. "Where did it go"
I asked about this at a Ford dealer today, and had estimated about $1500 for this retro-kit (since its brand new and genuine) ...but was told that the retro-kit is only $95. I couldn't believe it - and will find out tomorrow if there is some mistake of not.
