I replaced the a/c condensor & checked for leaks. Everything looked fine so charged the freon & pressure is OK. Have re-checked the pressure a few times over the past few days & is still good, so no leaks.

But the air blows hot- thermometer shows it @ 100 degrees.

The compressor clutch isn't engaging. All fuses & relays seem to be ok, but you can't check relays like a regular fuse- I tried a new AC relay & no change.

Any ideas of what else to try before I look at replacing the compressor?

you didn't say what kind of vehicle but it should have a low pressure or high pressure switch that tells the compressor when to run, theres power to the switch when you turn the a/c on and if the pressures are ok the switch completes the circuit to the compressor.

Sorry- it's a 99 Ranger, 4.0L V6.

How can I check if there's power to those switches? If there's no power, then what?
