I just buy a FORD FAIRMONT EF 5.0L
What engine modifications could I do for under $2500
My car is stock it never had and mods done to it before

I have heard that the std exhaust manifold is very restrictive, a good set of extractors would be a good start

as everyone has said EXHAUST! then i would work the inductions, get some sort of cold air intake (i.e. t-series) then a air filter (i.e K&N) if you get a good price on these, I would spend it on a cam, probably one from Jim Mock Motor Sport in Victoria!

You can do all those things mentioned but it's still not gonna be a rocket ship as the stock heads are rather bad. Don't waste any money on porting them. Nice set of aftermarket alloys would be good or maybe you could get some 2nd hand GT40P iron heads from an AU 200/220 motor. Same goes for the inlet manifold.

First Exhaust and extractors ($1000+), then K&N air filter and ELXR8 snorkle ($150). Then you can look at roller rockers ($600), new heads ($1000 for GT40P to $3000 for alloy) and intake ($1000). Lastly, you can do the cam if you want, but on stock heads, a cam will give you very little increse in power.

For $2500, I would do exhaust, air filter and roller rockers, and then give it a dyno tune. From this you will probably see a 15-25% increase in power

I vehemently disagree. The E-casting heads are junk and they have to go if you are half serious. And they run a different setup to the GT40Ps so if you do exhaust now you'll have to re-do it later. Here's my suggestion:

GT40P heads around $1400 for the 220kW jobs
2nd hand extractors from an AU2 220 XR8 $150 including cats
Intake manifolds from AU2 220 XR8 or similar $800+ approx
AU2 roller cam from XR8 or similar 2nd hand low kms $300

That's a real good base for bolt ons later when your budget expands.

I would have to agree with AP that the heads, intake and exhaust are the best horsepower per dollar items, especially making a good base for further mods.Even if you stay with the stock cam at the moment, these mods will bring out the best it has to offer. Maybe later on you can get a cam and at the same time get the Diff ratio changed to 3.45(or 3.73 if your keen).
